I am back with a new post for you my dear make up lovers.
There are some days the mirror is my worst enemy.
Without saying a single word, it is there to shout out loud the dark truth: my skin looks shit, complexion is a nightmare and I don't have under eye bags, I have luggages.
These are the days I am on a mission to find a new concealer.
I wanted to try something with an industrial NASA approved strength, able to make my nutella abuse induced spots and pigmentations vanish.
I wanted to try the Make Up Forever Ultra HD Concealer but it's too expensive to be bought without testing the shade so I will have to wait until the end of September when A brand new MUFE corner will open in Debenhams in Manchester.
I was browsing the NYX stand in Boots in Manchester Arndale and here we go, I found 2 good ones.
What I use here is a "double concealers-colour correcting technique":
- First, you apply a concealer with a colour correct effect, specific to address your main concern, so basically what you want to conceal.
You will use:
Green to counteract redness
Apricot to brightening dark under eye circles
Lilac to counteract yellow dull skin
Yellow to hide pinkish areas
- Second, you apply a concealer more similar to your skintone/foundation to even your skintone.
For the first step I chose NYX Dark Circle Concealer (£6.50) in shade 03.
This little pot can make miracles.
It has got a full coverage effect and its orangy tones works on masking the dark under eye areas.
It's a soft paste infused with coconut oil, I apply it with a duo fiber concealer brush with little tapping movements.
It's incredibly smooth and easy to work.
I have used the orange concealer from Laura Mercier and believe me, the NYX one is ten times more easy to blend and creases less.
It does come in 4 shades, I bought shade 03 medium and for your reference I am MAC NC30.
For the second step I bought NYX Gotcha Covered (£5.50) in shade 03 beige.
This concealer is a thick dense paste with a full coverage effect that will make you scream BINGO!
It is exactly what I was looking for.
I apply it with a small precision concealer brush and then blend it with the tip of my beauty blender or a fluffy brush.
I set everything with powder and here we go, camera ready!
The full coverage effect will last all day with no creasing or smudging.
If it is particularly hot or humid a bit of setting powder will probably help.
It comes in 10 shades and it's an incredibly good concealer at a very friendly price.
These are some before/after pictures.
