Take a bunch of bloggers, one of the most famous beauty department in town, a goody bag with many products to take home, add macaroons and champagne, include demonstrations, make overs and happy to help sale assistants, finish with that magic touch of Christmas feeling in the air.. and you will have the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bloggers Event.
The event started with a well appreciated drink at the arrival, was so nice to get there and have the chance to meet new people and say hello to bloggers I already knew.
There was a poster with the program of the night, that I was sure I took a picture of but, of course I didn't; basically every counter was giving a chance to try this or that product, providing make overs or advice about colour matching lipstick or skincare regime etc.
All around the shop the Christmas gifts were displayed, my favourite ones have to be these boxes from Penhaligon's, I cannot resist their vintage style, it's something I would like to display on my dressing table, I would probably be ashamed to use those bottles!
I suppose browsing around the counters I should have been thinking about presents for family and friend..so why I was just thinking about what to get for myself?? Selfish blogger..
Then 3 talks had been organised, by Bobbi Brown, Rodial and Creme De la Mer.
I missed half of the Bobbi Brown one (lost in the wonderful world of Chanel, more later about this), but I believe it was about how to achieve the festive season look.
The Creme De La Mer talk was very interesting to me because I knew very little about the products ( main reason being the price tag).
The star of the counter (without counting the posh fishes in the tank) has to be this box set, that contains one of the most expensive beauty product on the market, the Creme De La Mer The Essence: with minerals, marine algae, daffodil essence and seaweed extracts, this magic product should give you the skin of a newborn baby in 3 weeks.
Would you believe at the bottom of each ampule there is magnet? Yes, a magnet to keep the active ingredients moving, preserving in this way the efficacy of the product.
I kinda believe there is a small difference in price in between this box and my mortgage monthly fee, let me check...oh, actually it's much more. Have you got any spare £2000?
I was actually jumping like a child when I was given a little sample of the Gel De La Mer and one of the Emulsion De La Mer.
The last talk was given at the Rodial stand, where I had the chance to try their BB cream. The make up artist used St Barts, and I must admit it blends nicely with my dark skin tone (MAC NC 30), which is quite rare for a BB cream. It's great that the brand does actually do 3 shades, when usually BB cream comes in one or two shades, normally very fair.
Thank you Sarah for the picture!
Last thing she showed us the Glamoxy snake mask, which is a peel off mask with a botox-esque effect that I cannot wait to try thanks to glossybox that included two samples of this product in a box few months ago.
As you can understand it was a really nice night, just the right conclusion of a hard day in work.
Now, Mr Harvey Nichols, can we do this every week?
