CAPTURE DECEMBER # 25: FAMILY

Noise, mess, constantly busy bathroom, 1000 personal questions, but being with my family is the best thing ever.

They will always make me feel special, and even my nephew's birthday is a special occasion, so a superhero cake is the minimum requirement.

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 24: NIGHT

Looks like a postcard but it's real and like every time, stunning.

London by night is a very inspiring place to experiment with pictures.

NOTE TO THE BLOGGER: remember to plan a Perfect Husband- free week end to go to London and do some long exposure pictures without listening to that man complaining.

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 23 SOMEONE WHO INSPIRES YOU

No doubt on this, has to be this man, one of the bravest soul I've known about.

If you don't know who his story, he was a successful formula 1 racer that lost both his legs in a car crash.

He didn't stop fighting and few years later, here he his, a Para Olympic champion.

Well done Alex!

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 22 : RELAXATION

The peaceful and calm view of a bright and cold winter morning cannot be described in words, so I pass the job to this picture, taken few weeks ago in Richmond Park in London.

I could have spent all day on that bench, really hope I can go back soon.

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 21: SOMETHING YUMMY

I am back!!!!!

After a long day of early-delayed-very not comfortable flights, I am finally back in my hometown in Italy.

I have got very limited Internet connection so the daily capture December failed a couple of times.

So, something yummi...mmm...oh yes, has to be this:

This is a chocolate tiramisu' made by the blogger's precious hands for the first meeting of the Manchester Cake Club and was good enough to earn a second place in the competition was on that day.

Do you like tiramisu'? Wanna try it?

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 19 : ORGANIZED

If I was good at organizing stuff and things, you should have had a post published before midnight, with a lovely picture.

Well, have a guess, I am not.

So no picture for today, and this lazy, shattered blogger goes to bed.

Good night!

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 18: BURST OF GOLD

I used to hate any shade of gold in make up.

The only reason was that having a dark skin tone with a warm undertone, every single beautician or make up artist was slapping golden make up on my face telling me it was the only appropriate colour.

Thanks god when I started to be more confident with make up I realise that the wonderful thing about it is the chance you've got to play with colours and how good can be to wear something different than "what suits you most"; this is how gold make up came back into my life.

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 17: COLD

Last year, here up north, we were gifted with few days of damn freezing cold.

When I went to the park for my usual Sunday morning walk I realised HOW cold it was.

I couldn't resist to find this fascinating though: the way the tree trunk emerges from the iced pond looks surreal, looks like some kind of scenography placed there on purpose to take a picture.

Thanks God this does not happen all the time.

Have a good night my dears.

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 16: IN YOUR BAG

I swear to God, this is the result of my turning my bag upside down on the sofa.

I feel deeply ashamed and embarrassed.

My new resolution for 2013 ( after losing weight, finding the 5 pairs of lost glasses, getting a driving licence, don't buy more than a pair of shoes a month, learning how to cook the perfect Irish stew) is gonna be this: Try to keep by bag tidy, nice and clean.

I wish I knew how to do it!

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 15 : WHAT YOU ARE LISTENING TO

This bad boys are on my fave play list at the moment.

I could listen to any Muse album on repeat mode all day long.
I've seen Muse in concert 3 times, and I am planning to go to the next one in June in Manchester.
I like this last album, but I have to admit my favourite has to be "Absolution" and the live "Haarp".

Lana, my dear, what can I say? Her voice is like velvet, "Off to the races" on my ipod, and I am an happy bunny.

The last one is a musical. I am addicted to musical. If it was not so bloody expensive I would be every single week down to London to see one.
I've been so lucky to see Jesus Christ Superstar twice, first time was the original version in Florence, second time few months ago here in Manchester, when I saw the new adaptation, featuring Mel C and Chris Moles, where the actor playing Jesus has been scouted with a talent show last summer.
This new version is absolutely amazing, so actual but still stays faithfully close to the original, I am waiting for the DVD to come out to see it again.
What I will always remember about that night, is my face when I realised that I was sat behind Tim Rice in person. I couldn't even talk, so much was the astonishment!

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 14: DECORATIONS

Ok ok I know, this picture is very blurred, but I couldn't resist, I had to publish it.

I was just passing by the corridor when I saw adorable dog contemplating his Christmas sock.

God knows what he was looking at, but I had to be very quick to get the camera and snap this picture.

I believe he was questioning himself about what to ask to Santa for Christmas, I can guarantee he has been a good boy.

note: the landlords plastered the fireplace, scared we could have burned the place down. how sad is that???

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 13: BURST OF GREEN

If I could choose a place where spending sometimes in peace, on my own, just with adorable dog and my camera, that would be Portmeirion in North Wales.

It's one of the most peaceful and magic place I've ever visited.

Getting to the subject of today's post, the gardens there are such an explosion of green that the scenario will stay impressed in your mind for a long time.

This blooming bush was something that really caught my eyes.

If you've got the chance to visit it, it's well worthy, I really hope to go back as soon as possible.

HARVEY NICHOLS BEAUTY BLOGGERS EVENT MANCHESTER NOV. 2012

Take a bunch of bloggers, one of the most famous beauty department in town, a goody bag with many products to take home, add macaroons and champagne, include demonstrations, make overs and happy to help sale assistants, finish with that magic touch of Christmas feeling in the air.. and you will have the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bloggers Event.

The event started with a well appreciated drink at the arrival, was so nice to get there and have the chance to meet new people and say hello to bloggers I already knew.

There was a poster with the program of the night, that I was sure I took a picture of but, of course I didn't; basically every counter was giving a chance to try this or that product, providing make overs or advice about colour matching lipstick or skincare regime etc.

All around the shop the Christmas gifts were displayed, my favourite ones have to be these boxes  from Penhaligon's, I cannot resist their vintage style, it's something I would like to display on my dressing table, I would probably be ashamed to use those bottles!

I suppose browsing around the counters I should have been thinking about presents for family and friend..so why I was just thinking about what to get for myself?? Selfish blogger..

Then 3 talks had been organised, by Bobbi Brown, Rodial and Creme De la Mer.

I missed half of the Bobbi Brown one (lost in the wonderful world of Chanel, more later about this), but I believe it was about how to achieve the festive season look.

The Creme De La Mer talk was very interesting to me because I knew very little about the products ( main reason being the price tag).

The star of the counter (without counting the posh fishes in the tank) has to be this box set, that contains one of the most expensive beauty product on the market, the Creme De La Mer The Essence: with minerals, marine algae, daffodil essence and seaweed extracts, this magic product should give you the skin of a newborn baby in 3 weeks.
Would you believe at the bottom of each ampule there is magnet? Yes, a magnet to keep the active ingredients moving, preserving in this way the efficacy of the product.

I kinda believe there is a small difference in price in between this box and my mortgage monthly fee, let me check...oh, actually it's much more. Have you got any spare £2000?

I was actually jumping like a child when I was given a little sample of the Gel De La Mer and one of the Emulsion De La Mer.

The last talk was given at the Rodial stand, where I had the chance to try their BB cream. The make up artist used St Barts, and I must admit it blends nicely with my dark skin tone (MAC NC 30), which is quite rare for a BB cream. It's great that the brand does actually do 3 shades, when usually BB cream comes in one or two shades, normally very fair.

Thank you Sarah  for the picture!

Last thing she showed us the Glamoxy snake mask, which is a peel off mask with a botox-esque effect that I cannot wait to try thanks to glossybox that included two samples of this product in a box few months ago.

As you can understand it was a really nice night, just the right conclusion of a hard day in work.
Now, Mr Harvey Nichols, can we do this every week?

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 12: SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU SMILE

Maybe I am repeating myself , but to tell you the truth, the adorable dog is that thing that will always make me smile.

I adore dressing him up, not sure if he likes me to do it really..never mind, tell me the truth now, are you smiling back?

No pug was harmed in the making of this post.

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 11: LIGHTS

Not very difficult to find Lights around town on Christmas, isn't it?

My favourite ones are the lights you can find in market street.

The picture has been taken with long shutter speed, so what you see like a line is a light dropping down.

The effect of all this falling down luminous drops all along the street is amazing!

I know I will hate the emptiness of the streets in january after all this..

CAPTURE DECEMBER # 10: WARMTH

Maybe at the end of the month I will be able to publish a post for Capture December a little bit earlier then five minutes to middle night.

Anyway theme of today is Warmth: you have to thank me for not posting a picture of me in my onesie under the duvet, it's bloody freezing out there tonight.

I kept it very simple, as you can see.

MAKE UP LOOK BY BENEFIT FOR SS13...WE CAN DO IT LADIES!

Hello dears,
how are you all doing? Getting crazy with your christmas shopping? Relaxing in front of your decorated tree?
We are not gonna have a Christmas tree this year, the flat we are renting is ridicolously small to even think about it, but I have got big plans for next year when we will be in the new house, I can guarantee my decorations will be visible from a space station!

Anyway, today I want to talk about the live demonstration I saw on the Benefit event I went to the
Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar, which is the same one the Benefit make up artists did for the Matthew Williamsons catwalk for the SS 2013.

Michelle did the make up on Camille, a very natural and fresh look, and this is how you can do the same. (taken from the Benefit press release).

- On clean and moisturized skin apply Sun Beam, Benefit’s famous highlighter, with a clean brush. I use a duofibre or a foundation flat brush.

-Apply your usual foundation, Michelle used the Hello Flawless oxygen Wow, which I own and I like, most of all for the very natural finish.

-If you need use a concealer for imperfections or undereyes area. I unfortunately do need, I bought the Benefit erase Paste, but got a completely wrong colour, must try it again.

- Apply a champagne-beige shimmer cream eyeshadow all over your lid, using a blending brush. She used the Creaseless cream shadow liner in birthday suit.

  - Use a brown eyepencil in the waterline and under the lower lashes, try with two or three layers so you are sure it stays on. This line has to blended so to give a natural look.

- Brush and if you need, fill your brows with a brown pencil, and fix them. Benefit does a gel called Speed Brow Gel to help you if you,ve got unruled brows!

  - Use a pinky peachy cream blush on the check and the cheeckbones, and of course, remember to blend! Michelle used of course the new Fine One One, blending upwards.

-Natural lipgloss…and you’re done!

I really liked the idea of applying the High Beam before the foundation, I’ve used this little trick few times now and I must say it makes a difference, I like the subtle glowing effect that gives me without looking like a light bulb!

Let me know if you try it and thanks again to all the Benebabes!
